Resume tailoring

Make your relevant experience easier to see.

A tailored resume connects the experience you already have to the role you want. Rolfox helps you prepare a job-specific version, with your original experience as the source.

From a job description to a focused resume

Start by reading the responsibilities and required qualifications in the job description. Separate requirements you can support from experience you do not have. Then make your strongest relevant evidence easier to find in the summary, skills and experience sections.

Rolfox prepares tailoring suggestions and job-specific resume versions. Review names, dates, skills and claims before using a version in an application. The goal is clearer relevance, not a longer keyword list.

  1. Choose a job and read its requirements.
  2. Check that the base resume and profile contain the experience you want to emphasize.
  3. Review the tailored version against the original facts.
  4. Download the version for that role and inspect the final document before submitting it.

Reframe evidence without adding achievements

Suppose your actual work includes Node.js APIs and PostgreSQL queries, and the job emphasizes backend services. You can put those details first without inventing a performance improvement, a team size or a leadership responsibility.

Illustrative before and after
Before: Worked on the backend using Node.js and PostgreSQL. After: Developed backend APIs in Node.js and wrote PostgreSQL queries to support application features.

Use this wording only if it describes your actual work. Add numbers only when you can substantiate them.

Use keywords as accurate descriptions

If a posting asks for PostgreSQL and you have used it, write the actual tool name near the work you did. Do not add a skill just because it appears in the listing. Hidden text, repeated keywords and unsupported qualifications make a resume less trustworthy.

There is no universal ATS score that guarantees selection across employers. Rolfox's job-fit assessment is separate from an employer's screening process. Follow the employer's file-format instructions and check that your exported resume remains readable and complete.

Keep a final human review

AI can overstate, omit or misunderstand details. Compare each suggested bullet with your original resume and make sure you could explain it in an interview. Check chronology, company names, degree details and contact information after tailoring.

Job-specific tailoring is a Premium feature, including during the current trial. The pricing page explains access and checkout availability. Rolfox prepares the resume; you decide when and where to send it.

Common questions

Can resume tailoring make up missing experience?
It should not. Tailoring should reorganize and rephrase supported experience. Reject any suggestion that adds an unearned qualification, a tool you have not used or an outcome you cannot verify.
Should I tailor every application?
Review each role before deciding how much to change. Closely related roles may need only a few adjustments; a different role may need a different emphasis. Keep the underlying facts consistent.
